Karon Beach
Karon Beach is a Family Beach.
The almost 3.5 km (2,1 miles) long and straight beach of fine white sand is more quiet and peaceful than Patong Beach. The beach slopes gently into the water and is especially at the northern end suitable for small children.
During the rainy season, the monsoon creates many rip currents at the beach; every year careless tourists die here after ignoring the warning flags.
It does not mean that you need to stay away from Karon Beach in the rainy season, only that you should heed the warnings and not go for a swim when the flags tell you not to.
Karon is the second most popular holiday resort in Phuket after Patong. The city is especially suitable for families or if you more peace than Patong offers. You are still close to Patong, if you want to experience the nightlife, or if you want to go shopping in the daytime. There are shopping offers in Karon, not as many as in Patong. It costs 300-500 baht (300-500 baht) for a tuk-tuk between Karon and Patong. However, it can cost more at night or if there are many passengers.
Along the beach, you have the option of water activities in the form of jet skiing (don't), parasailing, windsurfing and water skiing. However, there are longer between the offers here than at Patong Beach. The northern end of the beach is the most peaceful.
Behind the beach, a piece of land separates the beach from the road, shielding the beach from the sight of the cars and the noise.
At the other side of the road, you will find a number of hotels that provide the beach with guests. Several five-star hotels lie here, including Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket, Mövenpick Resort & Spa and Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa. You will, of course, also find more affordable hotels here.
At the southernmost part of the beach, a few hotels lie on the beach side of the road, including the expensive Beyond Resort Karon (for adults only).
The southern end of Karon offers more shopping options than farther north. Just south of the beach, at the isthmus between Karon Beach and Kata Beach, you will find Dino Park offering mini golf for the kids.
