Sai Khaew Beach
Undeveloped beach without hotels.
Sai Khaew Beach is a mostly undeveloped beach, rarely visited by tourists. A part of the beach is situated at Phuket's northern side in the channel between the province Phang Nga in the mainland and Phuket.
The northern part of Sai Khaew Beach offers you a view of a similar beach on the mainland and a view of Sarasin Bridge, which connect Phuket to Phang Nga.
Here the water is usually calm even in windy conditions, as the beach lies sheltered by a headland, as seen in the photo below.
The beach goes around the headland and down the west side of Phuket where it meets Mai Khao Beach near some eateries. There is no clear border between the two beaches.
At Sai Khaew Beach, the sand and water quality is good. While the part on the north side offers shallow and calm water, the part on the west side is steeper and not suited for swimming. It can even be dangerous to swim here during the monsoon season from May to October.
Sai Khaew Beach is visited mainly by local Thais; most of the day, you can have the beach all to yourself, especially the part at the northern side of Phuket.
There are no hotels near Sai Khaew Beach. Please note that there are several beaches named Sai Khaew Beach in Thailand, for instance in the province Chon Buri and on Koh Samet. If you search for a hotel near Sai Khaew Beach, those are the beaches you will get in the search results.
