Layan Beach
The sand on Layan Beach is some of the finest you will find in Phuket and the water quality is fine too.
If you google Layan Beach, you will be presented with two different beaches. Here I write about the beach that Google Maps call Layan Beach, in the Layan Bay article, you can read about the other beach.
At the north of Layan Beach, a river is separating the beach from Layan Bay. Here you will also find Kala Island. You can see Kala Island at the far left side in the photo below.
Layan Beach is just over two kilometres (about 1½ miles) long. To the south, it melts into Bang Tao Beach. There is not a clear separation between Layan Beach and Bang Tao Beach; the two beaches meet just north of the Laguna area.
The sand on Layan Beach is some of the finest you will find in Phuket and the water quality is fine too. However, at high tide the beach slopes steeply into the sea, making it less suitable for small children. At low tide, the beach slopes gently into the water making it fine for small children.
Along the beach, you can find various eateries with food at reasonable prices. Layan Beach is also home of the Dream Beach Club, where you can get food for somewhat higher prices, and where you can party to music provided by a DJ.
There are no hotels situated at Layan Beach. The nearest hotel is Anantara Layan Phuket Resort at Layan Bay.
